چکیده
The IGCP 510 project Global Correlation of A-type Granites and Related Rocks, their Mineralization, and Significance in Lithospheric Evolution (or, in short, A-type Granites and Related Rocks through Time) of the International Geoscience Programmewas developed in the period of 2005 to 2010 with the sponsorship of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The project assembled participants from forty-two countries. The general goals of the project focus on correlating the petrology, geochronology, geochemistry, and metallogeny of A-type granites found in various tectonic settings throughout geologic time and on a global scale. Specific themes that were investigated included:

105 Abstract: Origin of A-type alkali feldspar granites is currently the subject of a world-wide debate. Contrasting hypotheses have been proposed, which range from an entirely crustal origin to an almost complete mantle derivation. A-type alkali feldspar granites belong to either unimodal granite (rhyolite)-dominated association, or bimodal gabbro (basalt)-granite (rhyolite) suite. It is argue...

The Shah Jahan Granodiorite and granite rocks are part of the Ordubad granitoid body that outcrop in 10 km south of Aras River. These rocks are located in the Alborz-Azerbaijan zone in NW of Iran. The Granodiorite Pluton has granular texture; containing minerals are plagioclase (andesine), alkali feldspar (orthoclase), amphibole (magnesio-hornblende) biotite, titanite and magnetite. Alkali feld...
متن کاملOrigin of Mesoproterozoic A-type granites in Laurentia: Hf isotope evidence
Granitic rocks are commonly used as a means to study chemical evolution of continental crust. In particular, their isotopic compositions reflect the relative contributions of mantle and crustal sources in their genesis. In Laurentia, a distinctive belt of Mesoproterozoic A-type or “anorogenic” granites of ∼1.4 Ga age was emplaced within composite, heterogeneous Proterozoic crust. Zircons are an...

The Ghoshchi batholith, ~150 km2 in size is a granitoidic pluton, which intruded the Permian country rocks, in Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, NW Iran. This granitoidic pluton is covered by Oligocene-Miocene sedimentary rocks known as Qom Formation. The Ghoshchi batholith comprises five plutons with following compositions: (a) gabbro-diorite (b) biotite granite, (c) alkali granite, (d) syenites, and (e) ...
